Did you know your vehicle’s air conditioning system loses about 10% of its refrigerant gases annually? This gradual loss can significantly reduce your air conditioning’s efficiency. As well as this, the system can accumulate dirt, microbes, and bacteria over time, potentially leading to unpleasant odours from your air vents.
Our expert technicians serving Nuneaton and Hinckley are fully qualified to service and recharge your air conditioning system. We’ll refill the refrigerant and thoroughly service the entire air con unit, bringing it back to optimal functionality. The result? Clear windows in winter and a refreshingly cool interior during those hot summer months.

How Much Does an Air Con Recharge Cost?

The cost of an air conditioning recharge depends on the type of refrigerant gas your car uses. At Apex Automotive Solutions, we offer air con regas services starting from £64.99. Most UK vehicles use one of two types of refrigerant: R134A or R1234YF. If your system uses R134A, the recharge cost is £64.99. For cars requiring R1234YF gas, the recharge cost is £129.99 when booked online. Please note, the gases are not interchangeable. The recharging ports for these two gases are different, ensuring that only the correct gas is used for your vehicle.

How Do I Know Which Air Con Gas My Car Needs?

If your vehicle was made before 2014, it likely uses R134A refrigerant. Cars manufactured after January 1, 2017, are required to use the more environmentally friendly R1234YF gas. This change was introduced to reduce the environmental impact, as R134A is more harmful to the planet. Vehicles built between 2014 and 2016 could use either gas, depending on the manufacturer.

Does My Air Con Need Recharging?

Manufacturers recommend recharging your air conditioning system every two years. Since the air con isn’t checked during an MOT or included in most routine services, it’s important to include regassing in your vehicle’s maintenance plan. If your air conditioning is blowing warm air or working intermittently, a recharge can restore cool air and improve fuel efficiency by reducing strain on the system and engine. If you’re noticing unpleasant odors from the vents, it may also be time for an air-con cleaning service.
